Characters:

Saya Otonashi

Saya Otonashi is the main character in the anime called "BLOOD+" . Saya is a normal high school girl who discovers a dark past of an ageless chiropteran born in 1883. As a part of the Red Shield, she fights to stop the evil designs of her twin sister , Diva .

Haji

Haji maintain the look of a man in his early 20's. When in reality he has been alive since the late 1800's . In the year 1870, Haji was brought to the "Zoo" and introduced to Saya in hopes that they would mate and create new specimens for Joel and his colleagues to study . 

Joel Goldsmith I

In 1883, Joel I along with Amshel, found the mummified corpse of unidentified animal, inside which were two cocoons containing Saya and Diva . He took on the role of Saya's father , leaving Diva as an unnamed test subject to be looked by Amshel .

Amshel Goldsmith

He is the first of Diva's chevaliers. Amshel or also called "Anshel" , was the brother of First Joel , who discovered the mummified body of Saya and Diva's mother . Strangely enough he inadvertently re-awaked the two Queens . Once the two eggs  had been removed from her body , he tried unsuccessfully to cut them open . In doing, his blade slipped in cut his finger , and the blood dripping onto the cocoons caused a reaction which eventually resulted in Saya and Diva hatching . 

Diva

Saya's younger twin-sister and the main series antagonist, the greatest sworn enemy of Red Shield . Like her sister , she is a pure chiropteran Queen . She was raised in complete solitude inside a decaying tower , located in the ruins in the grounds of the Zoo -following her release , she attacked everyone at the chateau where Saya lived . Red Shield was formed afterwards .  

Kai Miyagusuku

Kai Miyagusuku  is Saya's adopted "elder" brother. His father's death forces him to grow up and try his best keep his family united. He struggles greatly over Saya, and later Riku, not being human. As he finally comes to terms with both, Riku is raped and killed by Diva, and Saya disappears for a year. As the last surviving family member of Saya's adoptive family, he has sworn to protect her and return to Okinawa with her once everything has been settled. Towards the end of the series he convinces Hagi to confess his feelings to Saya.

Riku Miyagusuku

Riku Miyagusuku , is the adopted brother of Kai and Saya , the youngest of George Miyagusuku's three adopted children. He is a very kind and intelligent boy who loves to cook. His kind, gentle nature even rubs off on the reclusive Haji to some degree, particularly after he brings Haji a plate of food and asks him to join the others. Haji teaches Riku how to play the cello and protects him from a bad injury after Riku falls from a moving train.

George Miyagusuku

He is Kai, Riku and Saya's deceased father. He was an Okinawan-American US army veteran who served  in the Vietnam war .
